Rashmi Singh, (Patron,DCA) gets Award

President Pratibha Patil  confer the Stree Shakti Puraskar-Devo Ahilya Bai Holkar Award on Rashmi Singh director Mission Convergence  at a function in New Delhi. Singh is heading Mission Convergence, a unique initiative of the Delhi Government to reach the unreached by providing social justice to the underprivileged in an integrated manner through convergence of all existing social security and benefit schemes, said a press release. Her name has been chosen by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Chief Secretary Shri Rakesh Mehta.
The 'Stree Shakti Puraskars' are given by the Government of India to outstanding women for their exceptional work in fields related to women's empowerment, it added.

GM Norm for Deep and Argyadeep

International Masters Deep Sengupta and Arghyadip Das collected Grandmaster norms from the Cannes Open chess tournament at Cannes on Sunday. Deep's third GM-norm came after he drew with Frenchman Christian Bauer in the ninth round and final round to tally seven points that made him part of the three-way tie for the title. Deep eventually finished third after the tie-break scores were taken. Tigran Gharamian (France) took the title and Vadim Malakhatko (Belgium) finished runner-up. Arghyadip finished in a remarkable fashion when he scored the much-needed victory over top seeded Kazakh Murtas Kazhgaleyev to reach six points, worth the eighth spot. V. Saravanan (5.5) drew the final round with USA's Vinay Bhat and Saptarshi Roy (5) lost to Samuel Shankland (USA), to finish 20th and 30th, respectively.
