International Master Somak Palit of Railways won the Grihapravesh Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex, New Delhi on Independence day. Somak along with International Master Navin Kanna T U of Tamilnadu and Anwesh Upadhyaya of Odisha tied for the winner’s trophy with 8 points but better tie break score helped Somak to clinch the title and pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 61000/- while Navin and Anwesh finished as first and second runner up respectively.
Badrinath S of Puducherry become first among below 1999 elo category while Habib Qureshi Raaz of Madhya Pradesh finished as winner in elo 1599 section.
Shri. SK Singh, Income Tax Commissioner and Shri. Bharat Singh, CEO All India Chess Federation along with Shri. AK Verma, Secretary Delhi Chess Association gave away the prizes.
